AKA Impact Day-PINK GOES RED FOR HEART HEALTH

For its AKA Impact Day, Omicron Xi Omega Chapter presented PINK GOES RED: A HEART HEALTH PROGRAM — THE MIND, BODY & SOUL CONNECTION, which featured a seminar for chapter members and senior residents of the Montclair Inn on Heart Disease and Stroke prevention, how to take control of one’s Heart Health, how to team up with your doctor in your Health Journey, and the 7 Small Steps to make Big Changes your life. Later yoga instructor, Khay, conducted a Chair Yoga session where participants learned the benefits of yoga and stress reduction.
Why Go Red? Cardiovascular disease in the U.S. kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds. The good news is that 80% or cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes. Considering this, Alpha Kappa Alpha partners with the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women to educate the communities we serve, and advocate for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health!
