Letter from the President
Welcome to the official website of the Omicron Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. On behalf of the devoted officers and members of our chapter, it is an honor and a pleasure to greet you as its 11th Chapter President.
As the first Greek-lettered organization established by African-American college-educated women, Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908.
Omicron Xi Omega Chapter, chartered in Montclair, N.J. in 1984, represents a diverse membership of women from various educational backgrounds, professional careers, and personal interests. With more than 32 years of service and community activism, we continue to educate, engage, and encourage the community, while providing service-based programs that address educational enrichment, health promotion, family strengthening, environmental ownership, and global impact for the betterment of the families and individuals living in our area.
Our chapter is one of the 986 chapters worldwide that make up Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., one of the 72 graduate chapters of the Notable North Atlantic Region, and is part of the 26 chapters that comprise Cluster IV. We serve as the advisory chapter to the Montclair State University – Bloomfield College undergraduate chapter, Rho Phi.
We invite you to browse our site and learn more about our Sorority, our Chapter, and the Community that we serve. This site provides information on available scholarships and describes our upcoming events, as well as showcases news items, a photo gallery of past activities, and links to our social media sites.
Thank you for visiting the Omicron Xi Omega Chapter website! We have a rich history and we are proud to share our excitement about the business of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority – “Service to All Mankind.”
In service and in love,
